Subcision is a perfectly safe procedure that has been used in cosmetic treatments for a number of years. After the procedure it's possible you'll see some slight bruising or swelling around the treated area, but this tends to clear up within a few days.

A typical subcision treatment should take around 30 - 60 minutes, depending on the patient's profile and severity of the scar.

There are a few things to take into account before and after your treatment.

Before:

• Shave any facial hair around the treated area
• Remove make-up

In the 24 hours after:

• Don't apply make-up
• Don't remove any dressings from the treated area
• Avoid hot food, hot drinks, smoking and alcohol

In the 48 hours after:

• Avoid vigorous exercise
• Try not to touch the treated area, as this could cause an infection
