Frequently asked questions

At Dundrum Clinic we use hyaluronic acid fillers. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally-occuring substance in your skin that helps to hydrate your skin and keep it looking firm. As you age, this natural plumpness tends to fade away - but it can be topped up through the use of injectable fillers.

When injected, hyaluronic acid adds extra volume and vitality to your skin. It can plump up thinning lips and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Fillers are effective in treating two cosmetic categories:

  • Lines, wrinkles and folds: the lines from mouth-to-chin, lines from nose-to-mouth, smile lines around eyes, frown lines and lip lines (smokers or lipstick lines).
  • Contouring and enhancement: lip enhancement/augmentation, turning up corners of the mouth, cheek sculpting (sunken cheeks), jowls (sagging jawline) and chin enhancement.

Having dermal fillers is perfectly safe as long as it is carried out by a qualified practitioner. Our fully-trained team have a wealth of experience in this area and have carried out the treatment for a number of years.

Fillers are relatively painless. However, if you believe you are particularly sensitive to pain, we can numb the skin with a topical anaesthetic cream before your treatment.

Some patients may experience side effects like redness, bruising and swelling immediately after a session. However, they tend to subside quickly.

Fillers tend to last for up to 12 months.

You will notice a difference in your appearance immediately after the treatment. However, the full benefits of the treatment will appear in the subsequent weeks.

You can go back to your normal routine straight away.

The procedure should only take around 30 to 40 minutes.

Before your treatment:

  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Avoid aspirin, alcohol and vitamin E in the three days before your appointment. This helps minimise the risk of bruising.

After your treatment:

  • Don’t touch or rub the treated areas for a minimum of four hours after treatment.
  • Don’t lie down for at least four hours after the treatment. This reduces the possibility of moving injectables to an area where you don’t want them.

Any reasons to avoid treatment, such as infection or known allergy to the filler or to lidocaine, must be communicated before your appointment.

All 1ml fillers are priced at €320 per treatment.
