Brow Lifting

If you are between 40 and 60 years old, with brow lines and eyelids that have begun to sag noticeably and wrinkles or creases radiating out from the sides of your eyes (crows’ feet), you may be a candidate for a brow lift.
Genetics sometimes make these problems an issue for people in their 20s and 30s, in which case a brow lift can also help.

Often brow lift patients initially believe they need eyelid surgery to correct drooping above the eyes. After discussing their aesthetic needs with a plastic surgeon they discover that a much simpler brow lift will minimise such problems more effectively.

Anyone considering this procedure should know what their options are so they get the best outcome for them.

So what are your options?

Non-Surgical

Anti Wrinkle Injections
If the brow is not too droopy, and there isn’t too much wrinkling around the eyes, or your eyelids aren’t too heavy, an expertly administered B*tox treatment of the muscles above the eyebrow can result in a very satisfactory eyebrow lift. This lasts about 3 to 4 months. This is the most popular option. But what if you’re not a suitable B*tox candidate, or you’re looking for something more permanent?

Surgical

Traditional Brow Lift
The traditional brow lift surgery is performed under general anaesthesia by making one long incision from the ears, right over the top of the forehead above the hair line. The tissues are raised, excess skin is removed, and the long incision is sutured. Because of modern advances in cosmetic surgery, this method is considered to be rather outdated. There’s a considerable recovery period, a higher risk of infection, the usual risks associated with general anaesthesia, and is unnecessary when there are much less invasive alternatives for the same result. The scar area can be tender for months afterwards.

The Endoscopic Brow Lift
In the endoscopic brow lift procedure, under general anaesthesia the surgeon will make several small incisions above the hairline. Through these incisions, the surgeon accesses the tissues below the skin with surgical instruments and an endoscope (a small light and camera attached to a cable that is connected to a video monitor). Using the endoscope, the surgeon removes dense muscle tissues from between the brows and forehead, smoothing the appearance of the area. The skin is then lifted slightly in order to smooth wrinkles and elevate the eye brow area. Recovery time is less as the incisions are smaller, but the debate still rages on whether the endoscopic method is as long lasting as the traditional brow lift procedure.

Suture Brow Lift
The most advanced, effective and elegant method for brow lifting is the Suture Brow Lift. This is absolutely NOT to be confused with the ineffective ‘thread lifting’ that was popular a few years ago.
The Suture Eyebrow Lift is performed by a plastic surgeon who has undergone advanced training in Serdev suturing techniques. The amazing thing about the Suture Eyebrow Lift is it takes only minutes to perform.

What Happens During the Suture Lift Procedure?

After making you comfortable with a light sedative, the plastic surgeon numbs up the area around your eyebrows. Two tiny punctures are made in the hair line of each eyebrow, and a special patented antimicrobial suture is passed under the skin of the eyebrow.
The lifted tissues are secured to stable structures beneath the muscle to make the lift permanent. You’ll also get a slight lifting effect to the corners of the eyes, so those unflattering crows’ feet will be significantly reduced.

Will I Feel Different Afterwards?

The Suture Brow Lift is permanent, but because the sutures have been placed so deeply, you won’t be able to feel them.
As this elegant procedure is virtually scar-less, no-one will ever know you’ve had it done. Your appearance is much more youthful and refreshed. The reason this procedure has become SO popular is that overall result is much more subtle and natural. No more ‘wind tunnel’ faces!

Is this more expensive than traditional brow lifts?

Because there's no hospital stay, and the procedure takes so little time, we can pass on these savings to you in the form of lower charges. MUCH lower charges. The Suture Brow Lift costs only €2’900. The REAL saving with this procedure is on your time, you haven't got the risks associated with undergoing general anaesthesia, and it's scarless.

Can the Suture Brow Lift be done at the same time as another procedure?

Quite often, patients will ask to have this procedure done in combination with Blepharoplasty, for totally rejuvenated eyes. Your particular needs are assessed by the plastic surgeon before-hand, and he will advise you on what results you can realistically expect, and what procedures, if any, are appropriate for you.

Mr. Munir Alam FRCSI, FRCS (ED), FCPS (Plast) Board Certified Cosmetic Surgeon, he is the only plastic surgeon specialising in this procedure in Ireland.

Here’s what Mr. Alam said about Serdev Suturing.
"I have performed many open surgical face and body lifting procedures, and face and body lifting by Serdev sutures. In my opinion, the suture lifting has far less complications, practically no scarring, no need for general anaesthesia, yet the results are superior. The suture lift will last just as long as the older, open surgery method".

The future of cosmetic surgery has arrived, and its elegant simplicity is awesome.
